Global Market Brief · 2026-08-14

Inflation cooled, but the next AI trade is memory, margins and cash returns.

Softer U.S. CPI and PPI pushed the S&P 500 to another record, while MU and TraderXYZ memory contracts led the AI rotation. TSMC fundamentals remain strong, but Taiwan faded from its intraday high and retail sales are the next macro test.

Core view

Disinflation supports valuations, but it does not start an easing cycle by itself.

July CPI and PPI softened enough to reduce pressure for a September hike. Yet energy inflation and an estimated core PCE near 3.3% keep the Fed far from an easy pivot. AI hardware remains constructive, with capital rotating toward memory, HBM and data bandwidth.
